George was the son of Madison Crawford Owens and Cecilia Owens. He married Sibbie Jane Hamm on 1 Feb 1888 in Rockcastle County and they had three children (Lora, Johnnie and Ellen). George and Sibbie Jane were divorced before 1898 and he never re-married.
