Genealogy is strictly a hobby for me. Heck, I don't have time to do everything I need to do for my own research so working on someone else's family is just out of the question. Even though I'm not getting paid for anything, some nice perks have come my way and, in the spirit of full disclosure, they are listed here.

FGS 2011 - Official Blogger

The Federation of Genealogical Societies named 10 Official Bloggers for their 2011 Conference and I was one of them. In exchange for publicizing the conference, official bloggers received a complimentary full conference registration, free admission to one social event, access to the media hub in the Exhibit Hall for access to Internet and charging stations and access to the Exhibit Hall during off hours. 

Family Search

In conjunction with some genealogy conferences, Family Search often sponsors an event for bloggers. I've attended several of them.  

2010 Atlanta Family History Expo - Blogger of Honor

Family History Expos is a company that puts on genealogy events around the country usually featuring two days of workshops combined with an Exhibit Hall of genealogy related vendors. As a Blogger of Honor, I received a complimentary registration and admission to the Friday Night Event plus free wi-fi in the conference center during the two day Expo in November 2010.
